How to Translate Apple TV+ Subtitles into Any Language

Apple TV+ has produced some of the most celebrated shows of recent years — Severance, Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. But its built-in subtitle selection is narrow. You typically get English and a small handful of major languages — and if yours isn't on the list, you're out of options. Sublo changes that: it's a free Chrome extension that translates Apple TV+ subtitles in real time into more than 30 languages, with no account required.

What You Need

  • Google Chrome — Sublo is a Chrome extension and works only in Chrome on desktop.
  • An Apple TV+ subscription (any plan, including the free trial).
  • The Sublo extension — free to install at subloapp.com.

The free Sublo plan gives you 10 minutes of translated subtitles per day — no account, no credit card. Enough to test it fully on your first episode.

Step-by-Step: Translating Apple TV+ Subtitles

Step 1 — Install Sublo

Go to subloapp.com and click Get Sublo. This takes you to the Chrome Web Store. Click Add to Chrome, then confirm with Add extension. The Sublo icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar in seconds.

Step 2 — Open Apple TV+ in Chrome

Navigate to tv.apple.com and start playing any show or film. Sublo activates automatically on Apple TV+ — you don't need to do anything extra on the page itself.

Step 3 — Enable Apple TV+'s Subtitles Briefly

Click the speech bubble icon on the Apple TV+ player (bottom-right of the video) and choose a subtitle language — English works best as the source for the most accurate translations. Leave the subtitles on for a few seconds while Sublo loads the subtitle stream in the background. You can turn them off immediately after; Sublo's overlay will take over.

Step 4 — Open Sublo and Pick Your Language

Click the Sublo icon in your Chrome toolbar. A panel opens with a language dropdown. Choose your target language from 30+ options — Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Polish, Turkish, Dutch, Russian, and many more. Sublo uses DeepL for translation, which produces noticeably more natural results than generic machine translation.

Step 5 — Turn Translation On

Toggle translation to ON in the Sublo panel. Translated subtitles appear on screen within a second or two, perfectly timed to the dialogue. No lag, no drift.

Step 6 (Optional) — Enable Dual Subtitle Mode

Want to see both the original and your language simultaneously? Sublo's dual subtitle mode stacks two tracks on screen at once — original on top, translation below. This is ideal for language learners who want to read the source dialogue while following the translation. Toggle it in the Sublo panel.

Supported Languages

Sublo supports over 30 languages for Apple TV+ subtitle translation:

  • European: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Czech, Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian
  • Asian & Middle Eastern: Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Arabic, Turkish, Indonesian
  • Other: Russian, Ukrainian, and more

The full language list is on the Sublo homepage.

Does It Work for All Apple TV+ Content?

Sublo works with any Apple TV+ title that has at least one subtitle track available on the platform. It reads the subtitle stream delivered by Apple TV+ to your browser and translates it on the fly. As long as you have Apple's own subtitles turned on (in any language) when Sublo loads, translation works. English source subtitles give the best translation quality.

It works in both windowed and fullscreen mode, and subtitles stay visible when you go fullscreen.

Free Plan vs. Pro

The free plan gives you 10 minutes of translated subtitles per day — no account or payment required. It's enough to watch the first scene of any episode and decide if you love it. For full, unlimited watching, Sublo Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription. See pricing here.

Other Streaming Platforms

Sublo isn't limited to Apple TV+. The same extension works seamlessly on Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll, YouTube, Peacock, Hulu, Paramount+, MUBI, and Plex — all with the same real-time translation and dual subtitle features.
